  1. Hi all,

I am recently addicted to creating photo DVD ... however there's one thing that I really could not solve .... no matter what kind of audit format I used as background music .... after its burnt into DVD and watch it on TV ... the sound quality is so bad. Its kind of acceptable with just music .... however, if its human voice then its really really bad .... can somebody help please?

  2. What bitrate is the source audio?
    What frequency?
    Is it in .wav format?
    Is it mp3, AC3, mp2?
Are you transcoding it to something else?
What program are you authoring with?
    Cheers, Jim

  4. well I always convert the sounds that I wanted from an audio CD ...and then make them wav .... I thought that this format had least compression and should be good .... but the quality still bad ...

By the way .... I had been using Ulead DVD thing to make the photo slideshow .... and is now learning to use Adobe Premiere. Would the two software make any difference at all, in regard of sound quality?

CD has a frequency of 44.1, DVD requires 48. There is a possibility in upsampling damage was done. It depends what software did the upsampling. The next point damage could be done is during the encoding. The first thing I'd check is the quality fo the source once it hits your HDD. Has it been clipped ?

  6. oh ... I am really sorry ... but I am not quite sure I understand what you need me to check ...

I always use Music Jukebox 10 to convert the CD into wav. Should I use some other program to convert the audio so that it samples at 48Hz? Coz In Jukebox I see no option ... the highest is 44,100 Hz?

Anyway, thanks so much for such prompt reply

  7. Firstly you have to be sure that the quality of the audio is good after you rip it to wav with MJ10. If not then use a different s/w.

To upsample to 48KHz you can use BeSweet or HeadAC3he.
When I was born I was so shocked that I could'nt speak for 18 months.

  8. hi,

Thanks alot for your help. I tried unsample the song to 48Hz, and its still bad. After making the song as background music to the DVD photoslide show, it sounded like:

    1. Alot of echo, like the singer is singer from a cave;
    2. whenever the song hit a high pitch, the sound breaks..

Can you suggest a whole set of s/w I could use to capture audio from CD and use it as background music for the photo DVD?

Once again, thanks alot for all your help
