  1. I came across this on the Techolio Forum and though I am "electonically challenged" I thought those who do have these skills might want to attempt it. The link below explains how to stop the annoying humming/buzz caused by the front led.

I would be interested to know what some of the experts who tinker with the insides say about it.
Another great site for ILO info:

I hope somebody can shed some light on this issue, I have an ilo dvdr04 and liteon 5005 that both produce that annoying whine from the front inputs.

  3. Most of us with the ILO decks have tried just about everything outside of this one were you have to do a mainboard mod. Most of us just use the rear inputs with a cheap Radio Shack switchbox. I have 3 different sources going into my HD04 through a 4 way video switcher. Works great and a lot cheaper than making a mistake while modding the mainboard.

Just to note, if you are unaware of what causes the hum, it is the display. The display used is not LCD, therefore is causing noise. The ribbon cable for the front inputs connects to the back of the faceplate right next to the display causing the interferance. Some have tried shielding the ribbon cable but there is a small section close to the faceplate that is hard to get to. Just a poor design flaw.

  5. It seems like this noise from the front inputs happens on a irregular basis.

A thought though, couldn't the front panel display just be disconnected and eliminate the noise? I know it would be a pain not to see whats displayed but if it is affecting the recording maybe it would be worth it....?
