  1. Hi,I'm looking for some free or trial software that i can use to copy home made DVD's (+r)
Dosent really matter what it is,as long as i can just copy them from one drive onto another.
I used to use the Disc Copier in Easy CD/DVD creator 6 to do this, but i dont have it anymore.(New hard drive after old one crashed!!)
I looked on Roxio website, but i couldnt find if they have a free trial,i think you just have to pay first.

    thanks

  2. Just use DVD Decryptor... It's freeware and simple to use. Back up your DVD to your hard disk in an ISO file and then simply burn it to a new blank.

ybeard is correct. DVD Decrypter is just what you need.

  4. Hmm,I was under the impression that DVDDec would not recognise the menu created by the software I used,or from the DVD recorder that some of the discs were made on.I'll give it a go though and i'll let you know what happens !!

    cheers

  6. I use Decrytor to make dups all the time. It captures an Image file to your hard drive and you burn away. I have yet to get a non-compliant copy.

I could be wrong, but the question was making copies of HOME-MADE DVDs. You should be able to just use Windows Explorer to copy the DVD files to the hard-drive and then use your DVD burning software to make the copies. I would try this before using any "back-up" software.

If you use Decrypter in the ISO mode, it will create an (ISO) image of your DVD. Then simply burn the ISO with your favorite software. (The copy will be identical to the original.) IMO, burning an ISO is always preferable to burning VIDEO_TS. But hey, everyone has their own way of doing things. That's what makes life interesting.

  9. Well i got DVD Dec to work, eventually.I was getting an error when it was at 99%,with a choice of Abort,Retry,Ignore.I pressed Abort, and clicked NO when it asked if i wanted to delete the incomplete file (which by the way was a Winrar file, not an ISO for some reason)I then extracted the Rar file which gave me VIDEO_TS and VIDEO_RM folders and i used them to make an ISO with TMPGenc DVD Author's Burning tool. Then i burned that ISO to disc.Sounds like a long way round, but it was actually about 30 minutes from copying/extracting/burning,start to finish for each disc, which i can live with.

And Gadget Guy,yeah they are home made DVD's,not commercially copied discs, and i made some on DVD recorders, and some on the PC.
Most of my discs i can copy just by using Windows Explorer to drag/drop the VIDEO_TS folders and burn that way,but a few of the discs wouldnt work that way, thats the only reason i wanted another option.

Thanks to all who replied,it seems to have been solved (for now at least!!)

    cheers
