  1. I'm a little confused about how to configure DVD WS2 so that id does NOT re-encode DVD-compliant video/audio material that's already under 4.37Gb..?? I had original source material that was ~4Gb and after authoring with menus, final project came out ~3.5Gb..

I thought as long as you do NOT check the 'Convert to Disc Template' option that DVDWS2 would "smart render" and know not to re-encode material that was already DVD-compliant and under 4.37G ??

If I'm way off, then when do I actually select one of the internal DVD disc template selection in DVD WS2 ? Thanks.

did it burn your disc relatively fast, or did it take a little while?

How long is your total video, and what type of audio did your source video have? Is it possible it re-encoded just the audio? That "Convert to disc template" is under the VIDEO and AUDIO tabs in the edit step. If you had non-compliant audio (like 44.1 or something), maybe it just encoded your audio???

  3. Hey George,

OK, the audio could be the issue then.. I didn't question it b/c the original source was already on DVD and so I just assumed that both audio and video were dvd-compliant, i.e., audio was already at 48.0.. will check tonight. haven't burned yet so will do that as well tonight.. will post again if a problem.. thanks!

On another note, when do you select on of the the disc template options when beginning a new project (high quality/good quality DVD, 8000kbps, 6000kbps, etc.)? When you're dropping in a non-compliant file, like an avi/xvid file or something that's at vcd or svcd resolution or frame-rate??
