I have some mpeg2 files recorded on a wintv nova t in pal that I wish to view with XBMC on my xbox.

If I watch the files in their original recorded size (704x576 16:9) there is no interlace, but much of the picture is missing as the TV is 4:3. If I customise the display in XBMC the interlace appears.

I have tried to re encode to remove the interlace, which works fine for small files but larger ones have audio sync problems. Not sure about all the correct settings.

What I want to do is just purely remove the interlace and change nothing else. How can this be done? These are just recording from the TV made digitally instead of using a VCR. I want to try and avoid spending ages with audio sync issues etc and using various programs to reach the end result if possible. Have tried encoding to mpg, xvid divx with canopus procoder 2 and played with virtualdub but had more audio issues with this, not sure if I should play with the audio stream before encoding?
