i've recently been getting some older titles from NetFlix and many of them are in less than wonderful condition
in fact, a lot of them are in bad shape
a good example is the disc I just got this afternoon -- Disney's Robin Hood. this disc has quite obviously been resurfaced, which is fine (I own a DiscDoctor and have learned that if used properly all is well), but this disc has several small cracks, some as long as 5mm, at the center of the disc
this is not the first time i've gotten a rental with slight cracks at the center, but this one is definetely the worst
am I risking the safety of my DVD player by putting these discs in it??
should I even try to watch this movie, or should I just send it back and ask for a replacement?

I guess what I really want to know is: What kind of bad stuff can happen if something goes wrong with a disc while I'm playing it?

I have seen some disc's also cracked and broken at the center hub, personally, i have played acouple but if they are real bad or missing any plastic, i don't!!! think how fast they are spinning in there and if they come apart where the hub is being held onto

Another thing about netflix, when i was a member i sent back a DVD that was not playing good, skipping, ect. just to see what they would do i put an ever so small mark with a sharpie on the center hub, told them that it was defective & to send me another one, they sent back the exact same disc!!
