I can't find anything that will back up episode dvds like King of Queens or Curb Your Enthusiasm well....i lower every setting and it still compresses the main video to 50-60% and it just looks like crap on my 50" LCD and 65" RPTV...it looks like a bad .avi video you get off the internet.

Is there anything other method to get a good back up of Season dvds?

  2. Spilt the discs. Couple eps on one disc, couple eps on the other. To determine the # of eps/disc, reauthor and keep adding til compression equals, say, 80%. Just take one soundtrack and maybe one subtitle. DVD Shrink works great for this

OR, get some dual layer discs.

OR, use DVD Rebuilder with CCE.

If you must try to squeeze all of your episode disc onto one single-layer blank, you might want to try DVD-Rebuilder. Re-encoding is the only way to make yourself happy with this.

So does DVD-Rebuilder let you take out everything but the episode selection screen and episodes?

Rip with DVD decrypter, load it into shrink and reauthor to your taste, save this out to a HDD folder (backup option). Load this new DVD folder into DVD Rebuilder and re-encode to fit.

This will kill all your menus. If you want to keep the menu select screen, use something like DVD Remake Pro or VobBlanker to change the structure, instead of DVd shrink

After ripping with dvd decrypter, I use TMPGenc DVD Author to select which episodes I want. Then create a menu and Ouput & Burn.

  9. I use the same method as gunslinger and I am very happy with the results. It's easy and fast, well except for the DVD Rebuilder part.

  11. I used just DVD shrink to rip a whole season of sex in the city on one disk and it turned out fine. What I did was take re-authored and took off all the extras that I don't use like french audio and the behind the scenes that I don't ever watch and it turns out nice on my 32inch screen t.v.

I'm with Ma_Jie ... VOBBlanker and this guide. If you have 6 eps, just blank out eps 4-6 for your first disc and then blank eps 1-3 for your second disc. All menus remain intact.
    If in doubt, Google it.

LOL, my guide is basically the same as vdk_au's guide. Actually, it's even more simple.

  14. if making avis then up the bitrate to 700mb for a 50 minute
    350mb for a 25 minute

if dvd can you not just keep the original vobs no reencoding and burn less per disk
