Hi,
I have the Nec ND2500 and I'd like to know if it's normal that recognition time for DVD-R is quite high.
Here is my results with the 4 brands of DVD-R I used:
Princo => ID: Princo Recognition time: 22.64 seconds (Burned as DVD-Video)
Prostore => ID: MBI01RG20 Recognition time: 14.39 seconds (Burned as DVD-Video)
Emtec => ID: OPTODISCR004 Recognition time: 15.07 seconds (Burned as DVD-Video)
Bulqpak => ID: INFOSMART01 Recognition time: 38.70 seconds (Burned as DVD-ROM)
The recognition time is a lot faster in my DVD Reader but since it's quite old it has some problem to read burned discs.

You tried 4 different brands of DVD-R discs yet all 4 are total garbage.
What's the point of that?
Try to get your hands on some MADE IN JAPAN style DVD-R discs like those made my Maxell or Taiyo Yuden.
Then see if there is a difference.
In other words you are trying to rule out MEDIA being the issue SO to do that you need to use the best media there is!
It could be something else other than media quality ... it could be the way you are burning them for instance.
Usually the best way to burn is to us DVD Decrypter. This program will only burn from an ISO or IMG file. You can create that with ImgTools but be sure you use the "classic version" of ImgTools not the other version (which can't be trusted since it uses the NERO engine).
NERO burning can also often do strange things.
