Hi Follks,
Have had an ADVC 300 for a while and I really like it.
I have some VERY old tapes and it seems to be doing a good job. The problem is: I'm flying by the seat of my pants
I am not really sure what all the options are and what I am doing.
So before I start posting specific screenshots and specific question like what is an ideal setting for the AGC black level was wondering if anyone has some hints?
Web searches and forum searches have not been too good to me.
Thanks in advance!

what about the canopus site? Are there any user forums or knowledge based forums? That ould be the best place, at least as a starter.
Not sure how many ADVC-300 users there are on this board, but there quite a few ADVC-100 (including me). But there is not much we can offer since the two have different capabilities. The $200 price difference being a stark difference -

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to sound whiney. I was off all last week.
Actually I have been to the Canopus forums (fora? forae?) in several countries and there seem to be mostly high-end Raptor folks and the like.
Sometime this week I'll make same caps and post some Qs... -
I got my ADVC-300 yesterday and, to be quite honest, the manual sucks. It is written in a manner that presumes the reader knows what each of the settings is used for and what the implications of changes will be. In fact, I have no clue about the effects of making changes to the settings and would like an "Idiot's Guide to the ADSVC-300" to help me on my way.
I would be eternally grateful if someone would explain what each of the settings does, i.e., what effect it will have on the images. Alternately, pointing me to a site for this kind of help would be great!
Thanks!

Hi,
Using default settings works well, use the pc controls to adjust colour and hue to your liking.
Unfortunately im sending my advc300 back because the tbc causes an audio shift flaw which varies with regards to the length of time the unit is turned on. I perform a conversion service for clients and this audio shift has meant the unit is not suitable for my purposes. Its a shame because it does do a good job of stabilizing the signal.
Better than a tbc 1000, better than jvc digipure, better than a formac but why oh why didnt canopus allow toggling of the tbc ??I used to be indecisive but now I just cant make my mind up. -
I will look into this again soon. I just upgraded my PC and need to sort other things out.
I thought it was possible to turn TBC off as well as Audio Lock.
