Prodisc eh? NOT. They are an amalgam of cmc and AML and Infomedia Inc.

The media code I got in the +R's (I went and bought because he said they were prodisc), is "Infome R20". I'll be posting scans soon.

20 cents a coaster? Not bad.

If Fandim's tests are any indication of their quality, they're good discs.

Just because they're inexpensive doesn't mean they're automatically crap, don't call them coasters unless you're speaking from experience (and it's obvious you're not). I bought 400 Fuji 8x TY discs for 20 cents apiece a few months ago, I guess they must be crap because they were a good price.

Bought 2 spindles of Prodisc in the past and MOST of them were no good. FYI, I am not the only that has had problems with them. And yes, FUJI TY discs are good.

Actually, we're talking about Infome CompUSA discs, I'm not sure why Tacoman mentioned Prodisc. Unless it's specific to his store, there's no Prodisc media for $20 per 100 at Compusa that I'm aware of.

I won't dare suggest that these Infome discs are near as consistent from disc to disc as TY media or other high end media, but if Fandim's results are an indication of their overall quality, it doesn't get a whole lot better than the results he posted. Reviews of the same media in the DVD media section also seem to point out that they're good discs, only problem was some drives only burning them at 2.4x (probably from the FW not recognizing the media code).

I was talking about -R Prodisc.
As far as +R goes, I never use any +R discs.
Sorry, I thought the thread title was -R.

Regarding AN31....according to www.nomorecoasters.com these are 4th class garbage media (landfill material). I believe this is what Naked Geek uses also. Just a heads up.

I purchased the 100 disc spindle of CompUSA brand DVD+R media for
$19.99 + tax in San Jose, CA on Sunday - Mar.6.

I returned the spindle two hours later because testing the discs with
DVD identifier software yielded a Media code/Manufacturer ID of:

    AML.....001

These discs are garbage, according to most reviews:

  16. I used some of those long ago with my SonyDRU500. They were terrible. Who knows if todays drives could do any better. I will never use AML 001 again.

  17. I think the princo DVD-R spindles there are some type of local compusa deal getting rid of old 4x princo DVD-R spindles... the rest of the media sucks....
