  2. Before you start, do you have a player that can output multi-channel MPEG audio digitally AND an audio receiver that can decode it?

Otherwise, there is very little point in making one.

  3. I think that my DVD player can't do it. I'm going to do a check with a new DVD player of a my friend (don't worry about it I HAVE yo do an MPEG 5.1 SVCD, even if I can't play it on my DVD player, otherwise I have a DVD recorder and I also can directelly ripp the DVD on another DVD, but I'm a fan of the SVCD standard and I want to use its full specifications).
Please help me if you know how to do that, for example it's better REMPEG2 or pub_enc of Philips that it's with DVD2SVCD.

    P.S.: I know I'm crazy!
P.P.S.: I say that the outputted file is 2.0 on Power DVD and Showtime, is it normal (they don't recognize MPEG 2 5.1 stream?) ?

If you actually could use the MPEG2 5.1, you'll probably want to use Hypercube Transcoder to convert your AC3 file (that you ripped) to MP2.

For those that may not remember, MP2 5.1 is backwards compatible with MP2 stereo, so having the full surround could be a bonus if it ever will be decoded correctly in the future.

Note: To maintain surround quality, the MP2 5.1 should be at a higher bitrate than your standard MP2 2.0. This will eat into your video bitrate allocation. Is this REALLY what you want to do?

  5. Yes, you can't believe it but it's that I'm searching to do. I'm going to test Hypercube, thanks Cornucopia !
