I beleive I may have found a way to defeat the macrovision on the JVC DRM-10. Normally when you connect the VCR and try to record a source from a tape that is protected, you will get that 'cannot record' message coming up, even with the use of cheap stabilizer devices (little black box) that gets rid of it when going from tape to tape.
I tried an experiment to see if I could fool the circuitry in the JVC, and to my suprise this actually worked.
You need two VCR's to do this.
VCR 1 -> Stabilizer -> VCR2 -> JVC
Simply run the signal from your stabilizer through another VCR first...no need to record just let the signal run through the VCR's line in and out), and then to the JVC and it appears to record just fine.
VCR to blackbox to JVC doesn't work. I'm not exactly sure why this isd happening but, I'm rather pleased to discover this. Neither of my VCR's have TBC's that I'm aware of.

Where you get the stabilizer(black box). Does it work good on VHS to VHS?

I can''t find the exact one I have as I bought it about 15 years ago. It looks very much like this though.

It looks like they've added a place to plug in an A/C adaptor where mine runs on a 9 volt battery.
Going from VCR to stabilizer to DVD Recorder did not work, however going to VCR to stabilizer to another VCR to DVD recorder did. I'm a bit confused why it works but it seems to fool the circuitry in the DVD Recorder enough to allow you to record.
