  1. Hello all. So far, I have tried using DVDSanta (which worked fine until just yesterday, kept crashing and wants to send reports to Microsoft), Cucusoft Avi-DVD Converter (which in my opinion needs too much "tinkering" and "hard drive space" that I really don't have...last batch I converted need me to ifoedit it after converting and that required 4.37gb....and sacrificing my Graphics programs are NOT an option at this time). So, here are my questions:

    1. What is causing DVDSanta to crash? It was working fine last week and yesterday, just wont work at all.

    2. Is there another program out there that will do the same as DVDSanta but take less time and just as easy to use?

    3. Is there a program out there that doesn't require so much of my hard drive to be free?

If someone has some of these answers, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. I am also on skype as mac_addicted. My sn for AIM is macaddiction01.

Thank you in advance for all your helpful FAQ and of course, your time!

You could try TheFilmMachine. Or do it the 'hard' way and use TMPGEnc or other seperate encoders. Most all those programs need a fair amount of HD space.

VSO DivxtoDVD wont create menus for you, but otherwise does an OK job. Very simple. Current version (0.50 beta) is the last free version, so get it while it's hot.

Any of these will require at least 5 GB free on the HDD to have room for the output and working files.

As to why DVD Santa isn't working - could be bad programming, could be you installed something new that it doesn't like, or uninstalled something that had a shared component. Hard to say really.

If you really what the best results you can, then you need to look at avisynth or virtualdub frameservinbg to an encoder (tmpgenc, cce basic, qenc etc) so you have real control over the settings.
    Read my blog here.

  4. Thank you all so much! So far, I am too frightened and intimidated to use TMPGEnc. I keep reading what people have to say and for someon like me...can we get a "wow" in here? I had my friends copy of virtualdub and it was a bit "overwhelming" too as to why he GAVE me the program and kept dvdSanta for himself. Odd huh? Please see my new post about winAVI.....now this one boggles my mind....thank you all very much. If one of you is willing to "take me by the hand" and show me the ropes of virtualdub.... :0) I am MORE than willing to give it a go!

VSO DivXToDVD (converts other file types besides DivX) is the ticket.

I believe you can download a 30 day demo of TMPGEnc DVD Author which is pretty simple to use to create menus and burn the DVD.

If you don't need menus, DVDshrink will author the VOBs created by VSO DivXToDVD and DVDdecrypter will burn it.
