  1. I looked at AMD.com (site wasn't that informative) I'm trying to find out more about the XP vs MP line of CPUs. The MPs appear to be 'better' (ie. cost more) but that's all I can find. Sefy, anyone, got any more info and/ore urls's resources to point me towards. Thanks in advance

  2. The only difference I am aware of is that the MP is for use in multiprocessor setups - other than that I believe they're the same chips.

  3. Right now they are the same processor. In the future the XP is not suppose to work on the dual processor boards. And right now the MP is suppose to be unlocked (overclockable) their L1 jumpers are not burned open.

  4. I have 2 1.2 MP's on my Tyan Tiger board!!! I spent about a hour on the phone with AMD Tech when I bought mine. They told me that there's no difference between the XP & MP. The XP was a marketing strategy against the P4 2.0GHz The Xp will work for dual processor boards but you have to get the right part# AHX****** he told me that 95% of all computer parts houses don't know this...THEY ARE GREAT PROCESSERS!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Technicly there is no diffrence between the two, they use the same CORE as far as I've read, however, XP's are not "supposed" to official work on a Dual setup, and you will propably not get any support from AMD if you try such a thing, they will just tell you to use MP's, as MP's go through more severe testing in MultiProcessor environments.

BUT, i've seen both Athlon XP's and Duron (Morgan) working on a Dual Processor Mainboards, so they do work
