  1. Ok here's the deal...I use DVDRB (CCE) to back-up my movies. The past couple of flicks that I did were What Dreams may Come and Elizabeth. When everything is done and I burn to disc, I have noticed an error...The audio needs to be selected from the audio menu in order to hear anything.

At first I was puzzled, but soon figured out what was going on: If, in DVDRB, I deselect the audio streams that I don't want and one of them is the default audio stream, then it will try to play a deselected audio. This is of course a blank audio stream, therefor no audio. This only happens when I remove the first (or top in the menu) audio stream. Both of the aformentioned flicks had DD 2.0 as the default audio and DD 5.1 as a selectable audio stream.

Now that that is out of the way, how do I make the DD 5.1 stream, which is intact, the default. Meaning: I don't have to go to the menu to select it, or use the audio button on my dvd player remote. I assume the tool would be either ifoedit or pgcedit, but I just don't know how to do this. If someone could point this out to me that would be great. I consulted the guides area but am having a little difficulty finding what I'm looking for...

    Thanks in advance...

do a google search for "IFO Edit for dummies" - one of the sample guides is changing the default audio stream.

You can also do it easily w/ shrink. I usually rip with shrink (no compression) before I run through rebuilder, and you can set the default streams (audio and subtitle) there. Just before you rip right click on the main movie (or other) title set, and it will give you a 'set default stream' choice.

  4. Alright I found out how to do it...I couldn't find the guide "IFOedit for Dummies," so I just started reading some of 2Cools guides on doom9 for some info.

I decided that IfoEdit was just not the way to go for me so I tried PGCedit. I got exactly what I wanted with 3 clicks. (or more if you count opening the program and finding the right segment and then saving...but I degress!)

Here is what I did: Run PGCedit...duh. Open you're Video_Ts folder...duh. Scroll down to the vts you are having problems with. For me it was VTS 3 which contains the main movie, Title 1. Double click that will open the PGC Editor. On the top half of the editor, in the middle you will find the Audio Streams section. This is where the magic tricks are accomplished.

For my example, I had 3 total streams of which I kept 1. I ripped audios 1 (DD 2.0) and 3 (Commentary) while keeping the DD 5.1 steam 2. All I did was click the approprate stream button for 1 and 3 and disable them. This is no problem as they aren't even present so no need to have them selectable eh? Click ok on the editor. Save Dvd. Done. I played it first with powerdvd and it worked fine. I just burned and am going upstairs to try on my 2 standalones now. I will post this in hopes that I am correct and it will play. (I'll edit with my failure if I must!)

EDIT: Works! I feel happy now. I figured that out on my own...pretty much anyways since I didn't find a direct guide on how to do what I wanted.
