I really like DVDLab and am trying to decide between the standard and the pro versions. One really big difference is the scripting support. I am a software developer by trade, so I would have no problem leveraging this feature *if* I knew what people use this for.

I am new to DVD authoring, so would users of this feature please share the types of tasks that warrant scripting to make your lives easier?

    Thanks,
    Dan

OK. Bear with me here. Would I be correct then in saying that the scripting in DVDLab Pro is not for automating tasks within the DVDLab environment, but rather for scripting menu/chapter/link behaviour on the actual DVD that you are authoring? That does make more sense to me, if that's the case.

  3. Exactly.
Because the application adheres to dvd standard, there are only so many things one can do, before the DVD will no longer play. In comes labtalk (dvdlab scripting) which allows you to manipulate the way the dvd will react in the player (menu's, etc.) manually, and go far beyond what a WYSIWYG app.
There are plenty of automated tasks (chapter linking, switched menus, motion menu creation) already built in, so the rest is up to you
