  1. What is the most recommended DVD player, for the money that is.

  2. It depends.

    Do you only want to play DVDs? Is VCD, XVCD, or SVCD capability important to you? Does your player need to play MP3s?

    Is DVD picture quality more important to you than VCD picture quality or vice versa?

    In terms of compatibility and price, I'm sure a lot of people like the Pioneer 333 and its successors and the Apex 500w and other similar Apex models.

    Note that the DVD Players compatibility list has user ratings for each player in the database. I believe the Pioneer 333 has the highest average rating with a 9.0, but anything 7.5 or higher is usally pretty good. Make sure you read user comments, too, instead of just looking at the ratings.
