First off let me just say that this app is terrific, thanks for putting this together. If you havent guessed, I am really new to using it and pretty new to manipulating video files at all. My problem is this: I have a 704 mb .avi file that I want to shrink to allow it to fit on a regular 700 mb CDR. I want to play this file on my Philips DVP 642. I used ffmpegx v 0.0.9s to do this. I simply loaded the file on and adjusted the bitrate to allow it to fit. the video codec was set to MPEG4 [.AVI] (mencoder) and the encode video box was checked. the file extension started as xxxxDivX.avi and after running the app became xxxxDivx.avi.ff.avi. it made the file the right size, it plays fine on my computer using VLC or Mplayer but when I play it on my DVP 642, it skips all over the file. Meaning the tracking #s jump from 1 to 52 to 8 to 400 and so on. I cant get any picture, but I hear sound snippets when it skips, parts of dialogue and stuff like that. What am I doing wrong? Any one have any suggestions? I know that this is a pretty basic funciton of this app, I am sure I am just missing something glaring and obvious.
Thanks for any help.

Try to encode with "ffmpeg DivX" or XviD and check if this does make any difference. Some players may be picky about specific options in the stream.
