  1. hey
ok i just got the emerson vcr/dvd recorder combo... and right on the box it says.. DVD-R's only... so in the same store i bought a bundle of dvd-r's
when i insert teh dvd into teh drive.. it says that there is nothing on the dvd.. which makes sense.. but when i try to record... it says that it can't write to this dvd because the format is invalid...
the make of the dvd's is TDK. now is there a difference between dvd-r's???
one more thing that the manual says is that under teh dvd-r its got a small R4.7 what does that mean?? are there different kinds of dvd-rs ???

any info would be greatly appreciated

I checked the specs and it does record on that format, maybe it doesnt like that brand of dvd-r,try another brand such as maxell dvd-r made in japan.

I know this is a tad late, but I'm adding this reply so people who buy this unit can actually find the information here if need be.

You need to upgrade the firmware on the unit. I had the same problem, and then upgraded. Problem now gone. Visit the official Emerson site (link has firmware upgrade at bottom):

    http://www.emersonelectronics.ca/index/screen/products_3/model_ID/1845.html

    Hope this helps.

  6. I tried that address - are ther any updates on the EDVR95E? Is it true that the unit will not support TDK or is there firmware available elsewhere?
