  1. I was just curious as to what camera, type, or whatever, do you think has the best video quality....I am considering getting a new one, and the video quality is my biggest concern. Thanks a lot for your help.

    For under $1000.00 USD ...

... I'm quite fond of the Canon ZR-90 DV camera.

The 3CCD cameras are "theoretically the best" but the consumer level ones are not that much better than a really good single chip. The DIGIC in the Canon is what make the difference on it.

... for your typical home movies.

Not to take lordsmurf's post for granted but the Panasonic PV-GS400 is damn good. The first runs of it had motor noise showing up on the tape but they have fixed that now. Many people who bought it as a backup camera find themselves using it exclusively. Camcorderinfo.com gave it their highest rating. It's got a focus ring that can control focus, zoom, shutter speed, aperture, gain, and white balance!
Your miserable life is not worth the reversal of a Custer decision.

The Panasonic 3CCD's are getting good reviews but like anything, every model has tradeoffs.

You didn't mention a budget. "Best" is meaningless without a $ qualifier and a statement of intended use.

    Read the reviews here.
