  1. I just authored a project where all of the mpeg1 files were already DVD compliant (48KHz sampled audio), but yet svcd2dvd v2 rc5 insisted on resampling them, which wasted over an hour of time. Presently, RC5 fails to create the dvd files about half the time for unknown reasons. Taken together, for my future DVD's ( which can all be made from original DVD compliant mpeg1 files), RC5 will take more than twice as long as DVD Lab Pro to create my dvd's. Yes, it's fast for files NOT DVD compliant.

    So bug reports are:

    1. Needlessly resamples audio for files already compliant.

    2. Fails to save settings properly, requiring saving a blank project as a work around.

    1. If the audio is 48k it will not resample it. It will however need to remultiplex the mpg. It will not do anything if the file already has been remultiplex to DVD spec previously. (i.e if you reuse _S2D.mpg files or vobs)

    2. Can you explian this further?

  3. So, if I rename mpeg1 files that are already DVD compliant to *_S2D.mpg, that will avoid the resampling?

I imported mpeg1 files that were made DVD compliant externally to SVCD2DVD, and were already multiplexed. The processing information indicated they were being resampled as if they were non-compliant, although the screen information agreed that they were compliant.

Some of my use for SVCD2DVD will be to reprocess video information on all my old VCD's that I created over the years to reduce storage size. Much of my use for it will be for newly authored material, where I am able to control the file properties.

I'm using ATI Multimedia Center with an ATI All In Wonder VE TV card to capture mpeg1 files in a variety of standards. I can capture in a fully DVD compatable, multiplexed mpeg1 file with 48 KHz audio directly. These are the files the SVCD2DVD pointlessly reconverted.

Just because the audio is 48Khz doesn't mean that it has the structure the author a DVD. If a mpeg has Navigation packs it will not be processed further by SVCD2DVD. If the mpeg has 48KHz audio and no Nav Packs, SVCD2DVD will add the Nav Packs. No resampling will take place however.

  5. Thanks for the clarification.

My confusion is how DVDlab Pro is now much faster in producing the DVD images (about 25% faster), and gives better looking results when used with compliant mpeg1 files.

    I'm a little dissappointed with SVCD2DVD now.

    cheers,
