  1. When I'm recording something using the dvdr04, whether it's from pressing the record button or the time recorder. When I'm finished, do I have to finalize the dvd or does the recorder do it automatically when it stops recording?

I recorded something with it and tried playing it in my pc's Plextor PX-716A dvd drive and it will not play.

    Thanks!

  2. You need to finalize a DVD+R, and edit/title (in the manual pg 23) a DVD+RW.

I dont know about playing discs on a pc, but to play a dvd+r on another dvd player, you need to finalize it. And a dvd+rw never needs to be finalized, even to play on another player.

Okay I'm curious ... March 6th Noon on Sunday.

How is the ILO DVDR04 doing ... does it still have bugs in it. ??

Will I just end up taking it back because the problems posted in the past are happening or have the firmware updates ... taking care of these problems ??

Using the DVD-RW option is what I'm interested in.

And does it record in AC-3 Stereo ?? ... is the Tuner in stereo ... seems like I heard one of these low cost DVD Recorders didn't record in stereo.

    Thanks guys.

the quality of the recorder itself is hard to say, i've seen alot of ppl having problems with it, but not me. The only problem I have with my ilo and liteon recorders are they both leave a light humming sound when recording from the front inputs. The firmware updates didnt help this. They record in mpeg2 256k audio from what I've read on the internet, I dont have a pc to confirm. And the tuner is in mono. The ilos only record to dvd+r and +rw. But the liteon lvw-5005 records to all media, including cd-r in vcd and svcd.

I believe the Ilo also records in vcd and svcd. I remember seeing that in my manual. It just doesn't record in DVD-R/RW, that's all. No big loss.

  8. Even after finalizing, it will only play in the dvdr04. That sucks!

Ok, so what is a good dvd recorder that recorded disc will play in a wide variety of dvd players and/or in you pc's dvd drive?

    Thanks!

+RW and finalized +R discs recorded in an iLO DVD recorder *should* play in most new DVD players and in PC's. If using a different brand of media doesn't fix the problem, you may have a bad unit.

The iLO recorders CAN'T record VCD or SVCD discs. I've owned and used both versions.

Where did you get that idea? Only the unfinalized discs can be played back in the Ilo, but when you finalize the disc, you can play it in other dvd players just like a normal dvd, as long as your other dvd player supports plus recorded dvds. I unfortunately had to buy another dvd player (cyberhome dvd-ch300) b/c they wouldnt play in my toshiba carousel

And nowhere in the Ilo dvdr04 manual does it state it records to dash dvd media, or vcd/svcd. But then again I've never stuck either of those in it, but I believe it doesnt record to those formats.

  11. Well, I've got a Plextor 716A dvd burner in one pc and a Plextor 708A burner in another pc and neither can read the dvd made with the Ilo. Plus, I burn +r dvd all the time with both of these and my Sony dvd player will play all of them...it will not show anything with the Ilo disc.

I guess the Ilo is not finalizing right or something.
