    I used the following Guide
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833
to create a MPEG2 file from a VOB file

when I pull the MPEG2 file into Windows Media Encoder and Real Producer, they both claim that the file is invalid
but Windows Media Player and Real Player will play the MPEG2 file just fine

I'm trying to create a smaller file for streaming

Can someone shed some light on why this is happening?

    Thanks.

Any (well any good at least) app that creates mpegs from VOBs (like TDA) don't "create" the mpegs - they are just unpacked out of its VOB envelope. Now, my tool par preferance for demuxing VOBs is ReJig - I suggest giving it a try. After all, TDA is mainly for authoring (the opposite if what you're trying to do).

That's mostly done by the authoring app - or else, it can be multiplexed back together using TMPGEnc (mpeg tools).

    ah, okay

I don't have TMPGEnc just the DVD Author.

I found a program called Flask which converted the MPEG2 back to AVI - didn't care about any deterioration because I then converted the AVI file to *.rm and *.wmv.
