how will i connect 10 PC with windows 98 installed? what software to use?

you dont really need any software, its included with windows 98.
if all you're looking to do is;
share printer
share internet access
share files
play lan games
the hardware required is nic card in each computer, a router or switch -
Hub/switch
10 NICs
10 cat5 cables
Some protocol (usually TCP/IP)
All computers set to the same subnet (ie. 192.168.1.xxx)
File and print sharing turned on (so they can see each other)
I would go one step further on a peer to peer network like this and modify the LMHost file so you don't have any problems with master browser wars (used for seeing computers in the network nieghborhood) -

It will help if you explain exactly what you want to do. Most likely you'll want to get a router to handle DHCP for you, that way you don't have to worry about setting the IP address and subnets.

D-Link or SMC or Cisco wireless router. Now there are combo router i.e. printer, ADSL and network all in one.
