The unit sounds like record modes are similar to my dvdr7000. I have found only real use for vr mode is if you have a movie slightly over 2 hours to record you can record full d-1 in 2-hour vr mode and get about 2 hours and 10 minutes of recording. video mode will not exceed 2 hours. Also the 4 hour vr mode is half d-1 so if you have a longer movie or sports program you can record at half d-1 and still have files which meet dvd spec, reauthor on computer, won't need reencoding. Finalize usually only takes 1 to 3 minutes, unless you have a multi-title movie or complex chapters. If vr files not seen by computer, can try to extract with isobusterpro. Sounds like a great unit for a great price. enjoy!

Just a quick question, has anyone tried recording DVDs from VHS tapes that are more than masters? I currently own the ILO DVDR04 and am having serious issues with copying several live non commercial VHS tapes. I keep getting weird green/white lines that occur during the video - when the actual VHS tape does not have these lines. Im assuming its because the tapes I am copying are not master copies. Has anyone tried this with the Pioneer 220? I am thinking of returning my ILO for this unit bc i need to back up a lot of tapes that are not master copies. Thanks.

I wrote a post about my problem with ilo/screen shots here: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=266056

    thanks!!
