    When i try to put avi file into tmpgenc xpress, it gives me such an error: could not open the video part of the file...

    How can I correct this?

    Load the file in GSpot and look for codecs.
    Open it with VirtualDubMod and look for errors.

    I've already done this. GSPOT showed, that 3 compatible codecs installed. VirtualDub showed no errors

    Very good. But this info you have to post in the first post. Nobody want to spend much time to fish out every bit of information from you. If you like to track down the problem post all the information you can get about the file. Try also another encoder.
