Hi,
it worked properly only the first time..since then i cannot get a clear picture anymore. It looks like i'm watching NTSC all the time, everything is green or purple and flickering. Using the latest 4.9.3.355 unregistered...
I'm using PAL, i want to capture in Huffy at 640x480 from satellite via a Leadtek Winfast 2000xP expert (philips chipset).
Everytime i'm trying to go to "video" then "configure" i see NTSC_M even if i choose PAL_B every single time...what the hell is wrong with this tool???!!! It keeps saying "signal detected 1" & "lines detected 525" as well...
Using WinPVR it looks like this as well when i start watching, but it comes "back" in a couple of seconds to being something watchable. With iuVCR it looks like this forever.
Can anyone please help? I want to figure this out before i miss the big game tomorrow
here's how it looks like:

ok this is really asking for it...
i started WinPVR, got the proper picture, then (while winpvr was still running) i started iuVCR and guess what? It defaulted to PAL_B, detected 625 lines , picture was perfect but no sound...
Stopped everyting, started iuVCR first...same bug, defaulted to NTSC, no way to bulge it out of the way. -
On the Channels tab, click TV Tuner.
Set your video standard there, then it should stay when you click Configure on the video tab.Cheers, Jim

great tip, thanks it worked
now i just need to figure out what's the best quality/size ratio i'll use...
i'm gonna go for morgan mjpeg at 80% and then re-encode in divx @ ~1600kbps 2pass. Hope it's gonna be ok. -
For best quality, capture with as high a quality as you can before you re-encode to DivX
For instance try HuffyUV or PicVideo MJPEG on the 20 or 19 setting.
I never used MORGAN MJPEG but the point is since you are going to re-encode your capture you therefore want the capture to be the best quality it can be.

Definitely need a second drive for captures.
I reserve at least 50 gig, and use the Morgan mjpeg or picvideo mjpeg on 20. (they're the same quality as far as my eyes can tell.)Cheers, Jim

guys, so if i capture using picvideo or mjpeg let's say in a lower resolution than 720x576 it'll need less space, but how about the quality afterwards?
do "bitrates" matter when capturing lossless? I can't adust it anywhere, only the resolution. -
The bitrate is determined by the codec. It's not changeable in either of these, like it is in DivX.
Not to worry, you can get really nice caps at 320x240 if you use something to deinterlace before encoding, or during cap.Cheers, Jim

so basically the resolution is not that important when using a lossless codec to capture? 320x240 might be kind of small, i can surely go higher since when encoding in divx i won't have too many resize options available, right?
-
Bigger is better, definitely.
If you have the system for it, and can cap at 720x480/576 with no dropped frames, then go for it!Cheers, Jim
