I've searched some of the r200 threads, and didn't see info on topic.

On average, how many discs and/or covers can you print on one set of ink cartridges?

I know this is kind of nebulous, due to the different graphics that might be printed, but I'm just looking for a range of results...

    any info appreciated.

  2. I get around 150 - 175 with DVDs and covers and about 300 for discs only.

  3. I just do discs and no covers. I also print a few B/W pages here and there.

I currently have printed about 100 full face DVD/CDs and have about 1/3 left in the carts.

BTW for me, light cyan and light magenta seem to go faster than the others

I've got an R320 (same core printer) and I went through 2.5 spindles of 100 before I had to replace a couple. These are all on best quality, overbled, and non-hub-printable media. Nice thing is I get my media at Meritline and can get OEM ink there as well. They have a package deal to buy all 6 and and an extra black for $36.

Using a chip reseter I get 300-350 printing only discs, and my other R200s get 60-70 DVD inserts using just under the best quality settings available (no photo RPM switch).

Lowering the settings to very good for the insterts will almost double the output, but I like the quality more. Using the highest quality settings (Photo RPM microweave, non highspeed) I get around 50 full page prints. But the time it takes to print, coupled to the amount of ink, the quality increase isn't enough to justify using it.

Ugh, I just saw an R1800 demo on a printable DVD I brought into the store with me. I'm very impressed with the 8-color ink system in that machine. I'm assuming folks are using RGB gamuts more now with these 6+ ink machines? Authoring in CMYK would actually inhibit the printer's ability. I think the 1800 is a bit overkill for my needs since I've got an HP DesignJet 5000 for large-format printing but the R800 looks to be a cool step up from the R200/300 series. They're even FireWire printers. Sweet 8)
