Following on form an earlier post.

I am now getting extremely frustrated. All I want to do is put an avi file onto a DVD.

The avi file is 696 mb. I first convert this with TMPGenc, to dvd format. Thing is, the file then becomes too big for a 4.7gb dvd, due, to the size of the audio file. (over 1gb)

I then tried it in Canopus procoder - same again. Too big.

I tried to load the coverted files into dvd shrinker, but the tool does not see the files????

Finally, tried film machine. All goes well with this, unitl it gets to the bit where it needs to locate Canopus procoder for the video conversion. It tells me "no sources found". Which I cannot understand, as I have pointed it to the right folder, AND ...I have used it before on smaller avi files, with no problems.

Basically, it seems that I need to get the audio file smaller. I tried BeSweet on the converted file, but, hey, it does not see it?

Please help. I'm sure this is a fundamental exercise, but it is a nightmare.

Do you calculate the video bitrate? or do you just default bitrate settings?

And author the dvd first(output the dvd to a dvd folder) and then use dvd shrink to shrink it. But I recommend that you encode correct first instead of shrinking.

You can use tmpgenc to convert the audio to mpeg1-layer2. It is around the same file size as AC3.
