Hey everybody. Been having a small problem, and wondering if tapping into the solid knowledge base here might give me some answers.
I've been ripping with DVD Shrink for about a year now, burning Audio/Video TS folders with Roxio 6.1 with good results. I use Ritek Ridata G04 4X DVD-R discs. These discs play back PERFECTLY all of my set-top players: a 1998 Pioneer, a 1999 Onkyo, a 2001 Mintek, 2002 Sony, and a 2004 Magnavox.
Problem is, that I've tried to playback tons of my discs on my COMPUTER burner and DVD-ROM drive, and they don't even get to the menu! Tried Win media player 9, Cyberlink 6, and Roxio's playback program. ALL FREEZE. I've tried ripping to ISO, burning with DVD Decrypter...NOTHING. Ripping to ISO, burning with Nero, NOTHING. THe discs still dont play on my computer, EVEN IN THE DRIVE THAT BURNED THEM! But they continue to play PERFECTLY on the diverse list of dvd players that I've listed.
Does anybody know what's going on or have any thoughts? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

After you rip them, can you load the .iso into an image tool like alchohol or Daemon, and play the file? Also - it might be a codec problem, as Zisguy asked - do you have the ablity to play store-bought DVD's on your PC?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, they playback fine. In my burner AND my DVD-Rom drive. Tonight I ripped a copy of of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, ISO rip with DVD Shrink 3.2 and burned it with DVD Decrypter at 4x. Played back fine in 5 Set-top players. But not on either of my computer drives.
The original store bought studio disc played back fine in both drives.Niners aren't linear, We're everywhere!

I've tried to play them with Windows Media Player 9, Cyberlink PowerDVD 6, and whatever Roxio's program is called. No dice.
It seems that uncompressed rips (DVD-5) play better, but even these hang in the middle or when I fire up the scene selection menus.
It pisses me off because these discs play PERFECTLY in a ton of set-top players. Aren't computer drives supposed to be MORE compatible...not lesss?Niners aren't linear, We're everywhere!

Strike, please try to mount the .iso in daemon, and tell me if this plays ok?

Well, I just ripped Babylon 5: Call to Arms to an ISO file with Shrink 3.2. Played fine in Daemon virtual drive program. I burned it to a DVD-R with Decrypter, freezes in DVD-Burner AND DVD-Rom! Froze with both Cyberlink and Windows Media Player 9.
WHAT THE F***!
I dont have any other computer drives to test it on, so maybe its just my computer. I don't understand how my TDK burner can create a VIABLE DVD disc that plays on EVERY frickin set-top player I put it into but WON'T play on the drive that CREATED it.Niners aren't linear, We're everywhere!
