Sorry to ask a dumb question but I'm looking for a simple answer so that I don't waste hours looking for a non existant or involved solution.

I have an MPG file and I want to eventually burn that as a DVD.

I've tried to look at it with Media Player but that just says it needs a codec and PowerDVD says corrupt or unsupported file fomat.

I thought that with MPG/MPEG it was just a case of loading them into Nero Vision Express and it would then convert them so they could be burned to DVD.

When I try to load the file into Vision Express using DVD->Video->Add Video Files option it says "Unable To Insert" followed by the path and file name. It says the DVD-Video plugin has been detected on my system

(I don't really want to get to involved with encoders etc. as I've never been able to get my head around them so I just need a simple answer).

Does this mean the file is corrupt or is there a simple solution to what I want to achieve.?

    Thanks

It may not be mpg video. Use latest gspot or avicodec to identify the video codec.

    Thanks

Have run Gspot and it says not a valid AVI.

Also ran AVICodec and that says format not supported.

That tells me what the problem is, but is there a cure???
