  1. I use Studio 9.4 pretty exclusively. I have done quite a few projects with it and yes I have had some problems with it, but most have been system or driver issues. I usually myself push Study to the end of the line and expect more of it than what it was really designed for. Basic edits are definately not a problem. If you frequent the pinnacle forums then I am sure you have seen my name quite a bit. Currently I have been pushing Mike Iampietro and Mikel Z to fix the Surround Mixer to function as one would expect in. Its a bummer that you are having such problems. I would recommend not completely jumping ship, but check other tools out as well. I personally did not like the Vegas editor and I have a love hate relationship with Studio 9. Ulead is really not an alternative IMO especially after utilizing the options in Studio 9.

  2. I actually have the Womble Software, but it has a god-awful video encoder, in my experience.

womble lets you splice and dice with transitions between clips AND add audio track over the top of clip audio if desired with volume control and as long as you don't manual change output mode with respect to video/audio format/bitrate then your ac3 2.0 or 5.1 is kept! i'm posting this because you need to know that you won't find this ability to do what i just mentioned with any of the other software. pretty much none of the NLE programs except nerovision express3 will even accept ac3 audio, and nve3 although can import dd5.1/ac3 it can only output 2.0/ac3...bummer. nve3 isn't really an NLE program like vegas, premier, studio, etc. anyway...just has some splicing and can add audio tracks and a few other basic stuff then mostly shines as a dvd authoring tools for menu creation and burn. nice that if you select "all files" when browsing for media assets it will natively accept the dvd vobs (couldn't find any other editor accept womble to do this).

so cut edit dvd vobs without having to demultiplex first, and to add transitions (nice cross fades, wipes, 3d cube, page curl, etc) and audio track all while keeping dd5.1/ac3 output use womble mpeg video wizard...not to mention the realtime preview is superb and the program is ever so easy to master. try full function for 30days...

after you've output womble then use tmpgenc dvd author, mediachance dvd lab or sony dvd architect2b to author menus since those let you import dd5.1/ac3. you have to demux and use the ORIGINAL mpg for video and the elementary ac3 audio stream for audio if you're using architect. the others two apps don't need to be demuxed.

    good luck!

yeap, that pretty much summarizes how "useless" Womble really is...

Exactly! I just jumped out of Pinnacle bandwagon! My Studio Deluxe 7 just died on me (actually had to RMA few times). I got the Studio 9 (no cost) and almost nothing changed (only one extra new button).

Couldn't agree with you any more than what you said. YOU told me so and I thought I was smart too

So right now, I am looking... as I posted a thread in here asking for help...
