I need to transfer DV to a computer and make VCD or SVCD. I want to use as few programs as possible yet still get good quality. I have read websites and forums and am only getting bits and pieces. They sound really great but are not helping me now so I am trying to get an overview of what VCDeasy will do. Will VCDeasy do the following?

    1. capture the file from the cam?
    2. allow me to edit, cut and join?
    3. allow me to combine still pics with video?
    4. Let me add menus?
    5. let me mute audio in some places and then add different audio to these muted places?
    6. encode?
    7. burn the SVCD?

Your answers do not need to be in depth. If you have a "no" answer it would be helpful if you can suggest a program that will perform that task , preferrably one you have experience using.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks

My answers come from the last free version of VCDEasy - haven't followed it since, but:
    1) No. DV "capture" is just file transfer from camera to computer. Look here.
    2) No. VirtualDub does this.
    3) Yes.
    4) Yes. But you have to create your menu (graphics/video) with some other application(s)
    5) No.
    6) No. TMPGEnc is recommended for this stage.
    7) Yes (If your system has ASPI set up correctly).
