I have movies split up into multiple avi files. I know that I can encode these seperate files all at once, but is it also possible to set it up in a way that I can resize and framserve these multiple files to TMPGEnc Plus all at the same time. As to allow me to start the encoding process for the entire movie rather than just one part of it at a time during the night. I know you can join the files and stuff but I wanted to try it without joining the avi files together, I want to set up a que basically.

If your AVI files are the same codec, frame size, frame rate, and audio type you can use VirtualDub's Append AVI segment to join two or more files together. Then frame serve that to TMPGEnc.

You might also be able to create an AVISynth script (.avs) to "join" the segments on the fly. You can then use this to frameserve the clips into VirtualDub(Mod) to preview and into TMPGEnc (via the ReadAVS plug-in). I have TMPGEnc Plus; I don't know if TMPGEnc regular can do it.
I got a lot of good information from John "FulciLives" Coleman's tutorial at:

Good luck,

I knew that you could join them with virtualdub. And also about the queing available with TMPGEnc. I was just wondering if there was a queue option in virtualdub so I could frameserve the whole movie to TMPGEnc with out having to join the avi files. The reason is because I found that when I join the files, part of the a little section of the movie repeated itself where as when I queue the files in something such as DivXtoDVD I just get a little pause, which I found is easier to watch. Its just a little picky thing so if its not possible no big deal...I was just wondering if it was possible. I also dont have very much experience with this so maybe I'm just doing something wrong when I append the avi files.

You sure the overlap isn't in the videos themselves? It is common to add an overlap when files are split, apparently so you never miss anything. I see this all the time with SVCDs that are split to two discs. May be that some software misses the overlap when you convert the file and/ or join it and you don't notice it.

VirtualDub does not overlap the video when you join. I do it all the time and never have problems. The overlap must be in the video files themselves. This would be easy to fix -- just use the markin and markout tools to mark the overlapping part and cut it out. Then frameserve to TMPGEnc.
