For some reason, when I go to use DVD Shrink 3.2 with the majority of PAL i.e. Region 2 dvds that I get, I seem to have a major problem. It seems that the program freezes and locks up on me and it displays "Not Responding" in the title bar of the software window. That usually means that I have to shut down the program and start again. It also usually means that I have to intitally process any dvd with some other program -- to either cut it down to what I want or to remove extraneous bits. It's very frustrating.

It sometimes happens with NTSC/R1 discs but not so much. Is it my system I wonder?

    My set up is:

ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7N266VM 133MHz Motherboard
    1.67 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
    768MB RAM
    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D DVD ReWriter
    SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM-348B DVD-ROM
    Windows XP

I know my spec is an older one in regards to processor and motherboard, but has anyone ever had this (type of) problem and if so, did you solve it. Any info would be much appreciated.

I always rip with decrypter first, and most of mine are PAL (region 4 australia), and I have never experienced this problem.

I think I might have expressed myself in error. I can rip files no problem -- using either Decrypter, or Shrink Beta or even Shrink 3.2 itself. It's when I try to reauthor OR edit the PAL VOB files with Shrink 3.2 that the program locks up, like when you get sometimes with any program that locks up and if you try to get it going again (usually by repeatedly tapping the mouse or keyboard, as always....) it registers as "NOT RESPONDING" and you have to manually reset/shut it down with CTRL-ALT-DEL.

It just happens virtually every time I go to use Shrink 3.2 with the PAL VOBs. I don't know why? I originally thought my RAM was too low (at 256MB) and tripled it. This didn't do a thing.

I can usually re-author, but this tends to mean that I have to lose menus, etc, when I just need to adjust the settings in 3.2 i.e. Custom Ratios, etc or drop extraneous languages and subs, etc. But because of this, I can't do everything I want. Sometimes it means I have to rip and burn in 3 separate steps instead of just one and it bugs the hell out of me.

    Does this make it clearer?...........

Again - I do each of these things quite happily with the same version of shrink, mostly on PAL disks, without issue. I can only suggest unintalling Shrink, cleaning up after it if necessary, then installing it afresh.

Same here - PAL reg 2 done "all the time" both full and reauthor without a hickup.
