  1. hi

i've been using TMPGEnc to convert to mpg then burning SVCDs with EasyVCD....

i have one music video that is in the .m2v format, and i have no idea how to deal with this, could someone help me? thanks

i've tried renaming it to mpeg or loading it with virtual dub but it gives me an error saying "no video frames found in mpeg file"
with TMPGEnc, it says the format is not supported

i downloaded and installed the MPEG-2 codec linked from this site, doesn't do anything

m2v usually stands for mpeg 2 video elementary stream (just video - no audio, a little strange as you say it's a music video... ). VirtualDub don't open mpeg2 at all, neither do TMPGEnc natively. Try VirtualDubMod.

  3. Are you able to play the file on your PC or not ? Try opening it in AVICodec or GSpot to see the stream details.

  5. k i can open it with virtualdubmod, but i can't convert it to .avi under "direct steam copy", only with the other three... but with those other three the video gets cut into a square

anyway to convert it w/o losing the frame ratio?

?? No, as your sorce is mpeg2, direct stream copy wont give you an AVI... Cut into a square? It is a square, if aspect ratio is what you mean. (480*480)
mpegs have display aspect ratio which AVIs don't, so if your mpeg is 4:3 DAR, you have to resize to some 4:3 AVI resolution (or 16:9 if that's the DAR of the mpeg).

how would i go about doing that? or would it get automatically resized when i make the mpeg by using TMPEnc?
