I recently received as a gift a JVC DVD player that will playback DVD-r/-rw, DVD, CD, SVCD, VCD, CD-r/rw, MPEG4(simple profile). I do NOT have a DVD burner so my question is this. I have an AVI file that I would like to burn to CD but I am unsure what format to convert it to so that I get the best possible quality. I am familiar with several conversion programs (TMPGEnc, Virtualdub, etc.) but I would like to know with the playback formats available on this DVD player what would be the quickest and most efficient (quality wise) way to burn this movie file. I'm sure the responses will reflect each persons' opinion but I am looking for some new ideas.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Use Tmpgenc to create a multi disk SVCD. That's about the best you can do, without a dvd burner.
Plenty of tutorials on this site for it.
