lite on firmware upgrade info needed

I wonder if anyone can help me my sister has a Lite on Dvd recorder 5005 which she brought from Argos and would like to update the firmware on the machine after going to lite on web site using the serial no 0102-0243-0071-G2B9 and it gave me two files to download the files are listed below

1) LNFBE080.DSU.0102.024x System Driver
2) LNFB1000.D20.0102.024x Firmware Update
The lite on web site states I must install the system driver before update the firmware
I have read on various forums that it is possible to make the DVD recorder region free and also turn off the Macro vision and enable a 3hr recording mode on this machine

I Know This Possible by Hacking the Firmware with Mr Wizard’s software using this link http://ilohacker.tripod.com/
But I have tried this by extracting the firmware file with Win Rar but it fails
I also have the File LNFBE098.ESU.0102.124x Which I Guess is The Firmware 0098 Which I Downloaded From The Lite On Web Site And if I run it through the hacking software it produces a hacked firmware file

Is it safe to apply the Hack 0098 To the Machine and do I need to update the system file before apply the hack

Can someone give me instruction of how to make my sister Dvd Recorder to Region Free Macro vision Turn Off and 3hr Recording Mode

I'm not too sure about your situation. I have the 5005, and I had to update the firmware, and it gave me two firmwares to install, a system update, followed by a drive update. I hacked the official system update, which gave me 3hour and mv off. Then I installed that into the recorder. Then I downloaded the official drive update, and installed that afterwards. It all went great. I'm not sure about region free, theres something about it in the zip file for Mr. Wizards ilo hacker program.

I have Solve this i used the software by mr wizard and extracted the file
LNFBE080.DSU.0102.024x Which i did say was the system driver update but infact it was the firmware update i ran mr wizards program and provide a hacked folder of the filrware with the mv removed lp mode enable and region free apply

just one question i take it i apply this upgrade before the drive upgarde

I used the latest software for the US: system - LNFA1098.ES3 and firmware LNFA1000.E30. Regardless, the British systems should act the same.

The hack is applied to the system file. After loading the system file on your system then you can load the Firmware file. It should not erase the system hack. I believe the Lite-On firmware update is suppose to make the DVD drive more compatible with newer medias.

After you are done, go into the setup menu, scroll down to exit and then hit 2-9-6-0. You will have your choice of what region (1-6) or region free. After selecting region free and hitting enter move left to get out of the menu (or exit any other way).

That should do it.
