    1) The 8X Fuji DVD+R discs are usually media code YUDEN000T02.
However, try this 30 day trial of DVDinfo-pro to identify your discs:

    2) The OfficeDepot deal for 285 Ridata DVD+R discs (RITEK R03) for $42
is *not* functional in the SF bay area.... we always get screwed on
    these national chain store deals.

Turn one over and just inside the brighter blue circle there will be printing starting with TG00 followed by 4 more numbers if it's TY.

You can actually see this backwards through the packaging in the silver top ring.

I'm looking into buying these. Does anyone have a media code? Or better yet, anyone try them with a Sony Dru-500a?

  11. Too bad I can't find a location that has 19 spindles instock.

    *Update*
    Found one but I had to get 11 +R and 8 -R. I wanted all +R.

  12. No reason to order 19 unless you want to use the $10 off coupon. The 50% will still apply, if your store let's you buy them. It's just another pricing error.

I got Fuji Film "up to 8x" +R's from Best Buy a few months back.. On the outside "Made in Japan," they were YUDEN000T02 media code.

I had mixed/poor results in my DRU-500a with firmware 2.1a. Gave the rest to my friend with an 8x Sony burner, he had no problems.

Since I've switched back to RICOJPNR01 media code, I have not burned a coaster yet.

Unless I got a "bad batch" of TY's, I'd have to say this drive/firmware just doesn't like them for whatever reason.
