    They sell those markers they say are ok to use to write on your DVD-r discs but are they really?

  2. I've written on countless discs with Sharpies and Maxell permanent markers, zero issues.

    There are at least 15 threads on this. The readers digest answer is a resounding yes. The other consensus in general is no labels.
    Added- For dvds a general purpose sharpie is OK. For cds an alcohol free marker is suggested, but I personally use a general purpose marker.
    A good divorce beats a bad marriage.
    Now I have two anniversaries I celebrate!

    I also concur on the Sharpie issue.

    I have written on hundreds of discs with sharpies and no ill effects.

    I apologize for the repeat. I did do a couple searches first one titled "writing on discs" and nothing came up that answered it.
