Just got a mail from Pipex (I know quite a few of you UK guys use them).
And they are reducing the cost of my 2mb service DOWN from £39.99 to £33.99. Not very often you get a mail stating that prices are going to be down.
Have any of you others got this mail?, they said I had got it because I had been with them for four years but I reckon that was all parle.

Nothing here. Bastards.

Pipex is ADSL, I'm only on 512 though.

Yeah adsl, here is what they sent me: -
Dear PIPEX Customer,
We mentioned that PIPEX had big plans for 2005, and true to our word we have two new exciting developments to bring you today. In both cases you will find that as a loyal PIPEX broadband customer, you will be getting even more value for money.
PIPEX is making broadband even more affordable !
In our continuing campaign to make broadband services even more affordable, we are delighted to announce that we will be reducing the price of our PIPEX Solo 2000 service by £6 per month with immediate effect !
The reduction in your monthly subscription from £39.99 to £33.99 (inc of VAT) will take place from your next billing date of 10/03/2005. If you have paid quarterly or annually in advance you will receive a credit against your next bill to reflect the pricing change.
A special reward for you !
As a PIPEX broadband customer we know you are special. We are delighted that you have chosen to use PIPEX as your broadband provider and we thought it was about time we gave you something extra just to say thanks for connecting up to the broadband world with PIPEX. We are pleased to announce the launch of our new loyalty programme, PIPEX Xtras, and are very happy to confirm that you are now entitled to all the benefits of PIPEX Xtras at no cost whatsoever to you.
Full details of the programme and the range of exciting rewards are available when you next log in to My PIPEX at www.pipex.net
To introduce the loyalty programme, you will soon be receiving an email telling you all about PIPEX Xtras and confirming your membership to the programme. You'll be amazed at where PIPEX broadband can take you !
If you have any feedback on the introduction of the two new developments or any ideas that you would like us to introduce in 2005, we'd love to hear from you.
Please pass your comments on to us at getintouch@pipex.net.
We hope that you continue to find your PIPEX Broadband a valuable addition to daily life throughout 2005.
Kind regards,
Dominic Crolla,
Managing Director

Yeah, I got that e-mail too.
I think it was only sent to 2meg users.Regards,

Nice to get but not anything special. Correct me if I am wrong, but Pipex simply sell the BT Wholesale ADSL service. BT Wholesale announced some big price cuts for all but the lowest tiers of service just last month. Pipex are simply passing on that saving before you find another, cheaper ISP that has already reduced its prices because of this.
Any useage Caps on this service? There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary... -

I have a Zoom X4 here, courtesy of our landlord. It's a brilliant little thing - piece of piss to set up, and it's been online since 6-10-14 with no trouble whatsoever. It's dishing out broadband via. an eight port switching hub to five people.
If you're looking for a top-notch router, this one gets my vote (as an unknowledgable end-user). -

Check in device manager whether your network adapter is set to switch off to save power.
Is your IP auto assigned or set manually? -

The speed of your service will be increased to 1Mbps automatically as part of a network upgrade programme PIPEX is undertaking, which will run during the spring and summer this year. However, if you want to take advantage of the higher speed sooner or go even faster with our new PIPEX Lite 2000 service with a 5GB usage allocation, and do not wish to wait for the network upgrade you can do this now for a one off fee of £15 (inc of VAT)*, just visit My PIPEX at www.mypipex.net and within a few clicks you will move into the fast lane without increasing your monthly rental.

you got it yet VCDHunter? I applied for the 1MB when it was fiirst announced but my line wasn't up to it
I'm tempted to pay the £15 and jump the queue now if I'm able to get it now. I hate waiting for stuff -

ah, thought you had got it when you mentioned shiney and new
I'm tempted to call them and say I'm jumping ship as I can't wait but I won't pay £15 to upgrade now
if they are a nice company (been great with me so far) then they may just try and persuade me to stay somehow, if you know what I mean
I've been paying at least £5 a month more than what I could get 512k elsewhere for a while now so the £15 is immaterial to me, it's just the principle that's all -
