  1. Just starting with this program and need some help with these messages please. I've transfered family video from my camcorder to my Sony RDR-Gx7 stand alone recorder then used DVD Decrypter to rip it to my hard drive. Once in the hard drive i get 4 vob files. So i open TMPGE and go through the steps to get to the point where i output the video to a folder on my PC. So here's where the trouble begins and this is the message i get:

The combined bitrate of the clip exceeds the upper limit for a standard DVD. The combined bitrate of the video and audio of clip VTS 01- 1VOB is exceeding the upper limit of a standard dvd. The current bitrate is video:9800kbps audio 256 kbps for a total 10056. The total can be no more than 9848 kbps.

Also it will not allow me to select vob files 2- 4 and here is the message i get for that: This is an illegal video file for dvd standard you can use only MPEG 1 Video or MPEG 2 Video. How come it will allow me to load the first vob file into the project but not vob files 2,3 and 4?

The reason i use my stand alone dvd recorder to capture the video is because my Sony HI 8 Digital camcorder will not play my old home vidoes from my 10 YR old Hitachi camcorder. My Sony doesn't have backwards compatibility ( think that's what you call it). Also my PC doesn't have inputs for RCA cables so i can't plug the old camcorder or VCR in that way. Any help would be fantastic and please go easy on me as i'm limited in computer knowledge but willing to learn. Thanks for all your time.

I'm not exactly sure about what Sony Recorders do to DVDR's but try these:
    1) Re-rip the DVD with DVDDecrypter(delete the old rip) and set FILE SPLITTING NONE(in the options menu somewhere)....try and load into TDA.
    2) Try seperating the video from the audio(demuxing)....also done with DVDDecrypter. TDA seems to react better to this scenario in some cases.

    Hello,

Yes try hech54's suggestion on one vob.

Another suggestion - dvd players can really handle HIGH BITRATE video. If you click IGNORE on the bitrate warning it will go ahead and author it for you. Try it on a rw blank and it SHOULD work on your player.

I do this successfully with TRAILERS. They often are cranked way high and produce the EXCEED STANDARDS warning. Just click ignore and walla AOK.

But try it on a rw so you don't waste a blank
