  1. I just sent a friend a dvd set that I made, and I tested it on my own players for a long time going through the discs quite extensively before sending it out. I found no problems at all.

He now says that they audio plays out of sync on his dvd player. Has anybody ever heard of this before?

I assure you the files themselves are not out of sync, and the discs played fine in my players when I sent them. The discs are DVD+R and were recorded on a pretty recent NEC 3500AG drive with the latest firmware. It doesn't sound like the type of error that could suddenly develop, and I know there is no problem with the authoring or anything like that - it's unique to his player (I have 2 myself plus the pc dvd-drive).

I've never heard of anything like it, though, and don't know what to tell him. Any comments?

  3. So, is this a problem with compatibility with certain discs? If so, is it the format of the disc or just with certain media (brands, etc.)? Or, can it just strike at any time? What was your experience with the bad Sony player?
