  1. Hi,
I am newish to this forum and i need some help with my project. I have a dvd which i understand that it is in anamorphic widescreen!!! (this is a new term to me). Anyway i need to edit these vob files by firstly:
    a) making one big vob file from all the vob files
    b) converting the vob file into avi so i can edit in vegas 5

My confusion is here. Firstly how can i join the vob files into one big vob file, and making sure that there are no gaps/dropouts in the cuts? Secondly what can i do to make sure that the converted vob files into avi remain in the anamorphic mode so that when i render back to mpeg2 with vegas the reedited dvd so to speak remains in anamorphic?

I have already experimented with virtualdub-mpeg2 and different compressions (Panasonic dv codec/mainconcept dv codec) but i feel that the avi playbacks in vegas 5 were not 100% to my satisfaction. One time there was some flickering.

I hope that i am making sense from my description of what i want to do. Basically all my editing has to do with changing the audio and i need to extend the video too to cut and paste some scenes to make the dvd slightly longer than the original.

    Many thanks for assistance

  2. I forgot to mention that many times the playback of my converted vob files into avi do not play smooth in vegas 5. Is this a problem of codecs and what shall i use in that case? I work with PAL .
    Thanks
