  1. for my mass media class, we were given an assignment to do some research on a TV show of our choice. we can make a 5 min "best of" video of our show where we take really good stuff and put it into the video. I want to take clips from the complete first season of Reno 911! that I have on dvd. How would I go about doing this? Is there any way to put it to VHS? VCD or SVCD is fine too. however, I don't have a DVD-ROM drive or anything like that. I have a miniDV camcorder but thats about it. any suggestions?

    Hi ArtOfLosingMFZB,

    1. Rip the DVD files to your hard drive using either DVDDecrypter or Smart Ripper (if the former doesn't work).

    2. Isolate the individual clips using DVDShrink (at 100%, so no quality loss). This will produce VOBs for each clip.

    3. Author the VOBs to a finished product. There are free authoring tools that will suffice for this.

    4. You may be able to use DVD2VCD on the VOBs to get your (S)VCD. To get to VHS, just play the (S)VCD in your DVD player and record to tape.

There are plent of guides to provide detail on the steps above. And the tools are fairly intuitive, so have a stab at it.

    Good luck.
