I want to make a compilation dvd from some of my homemade dvds (birthday tribute). What I have done is ripped all the dvds that I want to use onto my HDD. I then used dvdshrink to cut out the parts of the videos that I want to use. So I am left with several folders about 300mb each. Here is where I need the help. All the files are VTS_01_0 files. How do I go about putting this in the order that I want so that they will play in a dvd player? Can it all be done in shrink/dvd2one or copytodvd. Those are the only programs that I have.

I think you'd be better served getting an authoring program, such as TDA or dvd-lab, or others. You could even get by with a VOBEdit/IFOEdit combination now that I think about it. You possibly could do it in DVDShrink but I can foresee it getting ugly, and think you'd get better results with an authoring program.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Are there any free authoring programs. I forgot that I have Sonic Mydvd (for tivo files). Would mydvd do the trick. Haven't used it yet, so not sure if its an authoring progam?

dvdauthorgui and GUI for dvdauthor are two free ones that I know of, I don't know if they accept VOBs as input though. I'd personally use TDA, and it has a 30 day fully functional free trial so you could always just use it under trial for free to get the job done.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ifoedit is free and will work. Rename the vob's last number in numerical order beginning with 01 not 00 (that's the order they will play) and put them all in one folder, called Video_TS. When you open IFOedit , click Create IFO's, Create One PGC Only, Create Chapter for each cell, and destination same as source(this will put your ifos and bups together with the vob's so you can burn a DVD UDF disk. Find the vob folder in the explorer window, open it and highlight the first vob and click okay and wait for IFOedit to finish. Dragging the process window off screen so you can't see the % complete bar will greatly speed up IFOedit(it's a program bug).
When you are done create an empty folder called AUDIO_TS, and place the video and audio ts folders inside another folder with the name of your compilation. Keep the name short(seven or eight letters) Use Nero 6 or similar burning program to burn a UDF dvd disc from the folder. The name of your folder will be the name of the 'movie'

    So I just:

1 rename the VOBs (do I do anything with the bups or Ifos?)
2 Put all into new folder called Video_TS
3 Open IFOEDIT - Click Create Ifo, 1 PGC, create chapter for each cell(how?)
    4. create new folder called AUDIO_TS(all caps? should Video above be all CAPS?)
5 Finally make a 3rd folder named @$@#@, put both the Video & Audio folders in it
    6. Burn using whatever burning program. (I usually copytodvd, will this work?)

Having a slight problem....did everything you said. worked great. Problem is there is 5.5GB of video. I want all of these vobs. How can I shrink it to fit on 1 dvdr? Dvd2one can't see all the vobs? only sees 11mins? And shrink says it can't work either?

Also, there are 23 VOB files. When I play them in windvd, the don't play in the order I want them to. They go from VOBs 1 to 10-19, then Vobs 2-23, and then Vobs 3-9. I want it to play on the dvd from 1-23. How can I do this?
