I processed an mpg1 file to burn to DVD so I can view it on any DVD player. I have sonic mydvd I do not like how it comes out I previously used Esay CD creator 5.2 and it worked great but now I have Windows XP Pro and when I load Easy CD Creator it does something to Windows XP and I had to reload Windows. I did this 2x. Can anyone recommend a free tool I can use to burn the mpg1 video file to DVD.

TMPGENC DVD Author is best, it has a free trial period.

I vote for it too. free trail at this link. Try the "edit menu" button for a custom look. Click on the background of your DVD menu and you can add a jpg for your own background. Convert trial to full with paid serial.

I'm not looking to upgrade TMPGEnc, it works great as is. Let me explain what I'm doing. I have many home movies and my goal is to get them all on DVD's. I have a VCR connected to my PC and I am using ATI Multimedia Center software to capture the video to a mpeg file. I then use the free version of TMPGEnc to edit and process the mpeg file so I can burn it to a DVD. The problem I am having is that I am unable to run EASY CD CREATOR 5.2, which I purchased on Windows XP.
Note: I tried the XP patch. So I tried Sonic MYDVD which came with the DVD Burner, it is the full version and it takes forever. I also purchased a Canon DV camera and got PINNACLE STUDIO VERSION 9 (Full version) with it. PINNACLE is a great tool but, I was just wondering if there is a simple free tool I can use just to burn the MPEG file I created to a DVD and be able to view it on any DVD Player. I'm tired of patching everything I buy. -
Why did the following come up with the first person that posted a reply?

drwho41963, I dont understand what your doing, if you wanna a dvd compatible burned disc, your sonic mydvd is capable or doing it. DVD format is Mpeg II.

What are the attributes of your captured mpegs? you mentioned mpeg1, but what is the resolution and bitrate of those captures?
Can you card capture mpeg-2? If so, what resolutions can it handle?
For DVD, try to capture valid DVD mpegs (mpeg-1 or mpeg-2, resolution, and bitrates). Then when you go to Author the DVD, it should have an option to use your videos "asis", so that it only needs to assemble everything to DVD structure and let you burn (shouldn't take forever).
For valid DVD specs, look in the top left of this site -- "WHAT IS" section, click on the DVD link.George
