I got 1G of DDR PC3200 Ram (512MB X 2 in dual channel) with 2.8C and of all the applications I run in my PC, my MAX ram usage was only 325MB (during video editing), however I can see the MAX CPU usage was 90%( also during video editing),so I am making full use of my CPU. That make me think, is it a waste for installing 1 G of Ram if I am only using my PC for video editing?

I think so, 256MB is good enough if just encoding (for most encoders). 512MB is plenty. I use 768MB in my main machine mostly to keep Photoshop and other apps going as well while editing. Non-realtime encoding always takes 99% CPU no matter how big or fast. CPU is the limiting device.

    Thanks for the feedback, edDV.

I will be building another PC soon and I guess I will spend my $ by getting a more powerful CPU and just plug 1 stick of Ram from my current PC

Over 512MB RAM, there is more bang for buck with CPU speed.
