I have a Leadtek TV2000XP TV card. I want to use it to record World Rally Car events. I've been reading tons of stuff here and doing lots of test captures.
When capturing to uncompressed AVI I'm getting fringy looking horizontal lines along vertical edges and on anything fast moving. Also jaggies on diagonal edges. Makes things look fuzzy.
I've tried the TV2000's software both with no codec and with Huffy, and virtualvcr with Huffy (both YUY2 and RGB24) and get the same results. When I record with the TV2000's MPEG2 setting, the picture is normal.
I plan to edit out the commercials and author these to DVD with menus later. Is this going to show up in the final output?

You may be seeing interlacing. Try convert your avi captures to mpeg2 and look at them.
