I've been using Any-Video-Converter-Free.
It's easy, free, and works great.

Dude, how do I download super. I know what the instructions on the S.U.P.E.R. home site says, but I don't know how to do it, meaning that I don't know how to unblock an http referrer or enable javascript... is there an easy way I can download it, or at least a place where I can download it easily

I would recommend SPAM for conversion. Although it's not free, it does the job perfectly, especially when tuned thoroughly

I've been trying all kinds of settings with Super, MediaCoder as well as any-video-converter-free. When I do an FLV (YouTube clips) to AVI conversion, the sound synchronization gets progressively worse. For my purposes (solo guitar clips) after about a minute or so the synch is so off that I can't even watch it.
The only thing that has worked so far is VideoChargeFull, but I ain't shelling out $100!

- Avisynth script & VirtualDub (+FLV Splitter & ffdshow) - OK (but required put correct FPS in script).
VideoCharge used FFmpeg code for FLV.

Thanks for the reply. The FPS is correct when I use Super and MediaCoder. I tried Riva and it worked great, but the resultant video came out upside down! Couldn't figure out how to change it and their support forum is currently unavailable. Downloaded FFMPEG but currently don't have time to figure out this command line tool.
As for MediaCoder (which I prefer in general), there seems to be a duration problem between the container and the transcoded AVI. I can't see where to fix this and have posted a question on the forum there.

Ok, so let me get this straight, the S in SUPER as in the SUPER video converter program stands for simple???
So I download this program figuring it would be SIMPLE to use, and when it starts this is the screen I see:
NOTE TO MARKETING DEPT AT SUPER: You suck.
Lets get one thing straight, when the screenshot looks like the cockpit of a 747, its not simple. Period.
Dilbert had a cartoon once about a simple computer. It only had one button, and they pushed it before
it left the factory. Thats simple. While I realize that it may take a little more than that to convert from
flv to a real format that one can use, I don't expect to have to have a 4 year degree in software compression theory
to convert a file.
Here's another clue. If a software package ever uses the word codec, its not simple. its highly
doubtful that it even works. I have know Idea what a codec is and anytime I've tried to use any
software that so much as mentioned codec it has never worked.
So rather than ask yet again how to go through the maze of options for SUPER or any other ridiculous
unnecessarily complicated software package, I submit to all exactly the model for all conversion software:
http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/
screenshot:
http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/screenshot1.htm
It finally did what it was supposed to do, take an flv and make a new file that was (well I only tried) wmv. While
it didn't claim to be simple and I did have to do two steps, (1: download the flv to my disk 2: convert the
downloaded flv file to a wmv file) but it worked just fine.
I was so happy to find a program that actually worked and didn't need me know WTF a sampling freq is,
I even sent the donationware site the $5 they ask for (but in no way insist or nag for.) 3 cheers for someone who
actually knows how to write good simple to use software.

I did all the steps and then i clicked flv encode but i got an error it said:The encoding of your video file has failed. This can be caused by a not supported combination of parameters or by a not supported video codec. So what do i do now? I used Riva Flv Encoder i was trying to change a video from Flv to Avi.

Hey,
First post here... But I've been reading for some time, and thanks to all contributors!
To begin with, I want to say that while I wasn't totally on board with jleslie48's rant, I downloaded "YouTubeDownloader" anyway, and it's really quite good!
Nevertheless, based on all of the positive writeups on Super, I downloaded it, too, to check it out. I installed it, ran it, and nothing happened. NOTHING. I see no windows, processes (I use Process Explorer), or anything.
I tried both versions, i.e. from the author's site (yes, it's badly designed, but 25 years in IT helped me along), and the videohelp mirror (which is a bit older), both do the same. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, with the same results.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Oh, by the way, I also tried WinFF, and liked it a lot, though still found a significant loss of quality when converting from .FLV files.
Salutations,
-Paul

What's properties Your FLV file (or files)?
Video - FLV1 or VP6F?
Audio - MP3 or Nellymoser or PCM or ADPCM (SWF variant)?
FPS - variable or not?
Files download from YouTube or some other sites?

I wanted to download a clip from youtube. To do this i used videoget http://nuclear-coffee.com/php/products.php and it worked fine. The plus side of this program is that you don't have to download the clip as .flv first. You can convert it to mpeg1, mpeg2, avi, wmv, flv, mp4, 3gp and mp3 immediately!
